Nine Twist Stream
Originating in the Wuyi Natural Reserve and flowing through mountain valleys. The Nine-Twist Stream runs nine kilometers and has 9 twists in its course. The clean water moving past rocks and cliffs combines with the exotic peaks crowned by green groves presenting a real-life traditional Chinese painting.
It takes about 2 hours to drift down the stream by means of a very old type of bamboo raft. So this experience is unique and memorable. No visitor should miss the chance.
A meander down the Nine Twist Stream, which is surrounded by exquisite, flowers and birds, a mix of history and legend, can provide tourists of pure magic.
The Nine Twist Stream is 9.5 kilometers long and covers an area of 8.5 square kilometers. Originated from southwestern foot of the main peak of Wuyi mountain range Huanggang Mountain, the clean and clear stream runs eastward through Xingcun Town and the scenic area of Wuyishan. The stream has nine turns, hence the name of Nine Twist Stream. It would be a wonderful experience to drift down this river on a bamboo raft through the whole 9 twists and 18 bends.

Each bend has its own unique landscape. Staying on the raft you will have fantastic views of the unspoilt scenery. Snaky Nine-Twist Stream separate group hills from each others. The scenery of the hills encircled by the stream is spectacular. The stream water is so clear that you can see the stones at the bottom. It forms a delightful contrast with the red mountains. Its formations are sometimes elegant and smoothly shaped, in other parts the rocks are rough and jagged.
Floating on a bamboo raft along the stream, you may raise your head to appreciate the towering mountains, and lower it to listen to the flowing water, and touch it with your hands. The clear stream forms a delightful contrast with the red mountains, with each bend having its own unique landscape. On both sides of the Nine Bend Stream stand grotesque rocks. Along the winding stream, there are both shoals and deep pools. Visitors may enjoy themselves in the Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area by taking a boat tour, appreciating the mountains in the distance and visiting caves.
